We are proud to announce that the intricate mural artwork inside the Womb Chamber (Garbhaya) of the Stupa at Rakkiththa Kanda Rajamaha Viharaya has been fully completed.
The Womb Chamber, also known as the Relic Chamber, is considered the most sacred inner sanctum of the stupa, as it houses the relics of the Lord Buddha. This project was undertaken with deep spiritual intent, combining ancient Buddhist artistic traditions with careful attention to religious and cultural detail.
The mural paintings were created over several months by experienced temple artists under the guidance of the chief monk and senior members of the temple clergy. Every section of the artwork reflects key moments from the life of the Buddha, along with symbolic elements of Theravāda Buddhist philosophy.
This marks a significant milestone in the temple’s ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance the sacredness of this historic site, which has been a place of worship and pilgrimage for generations.
We warmly invite all devotees, researchers, and visitors to explore the sacred beauty of this newly completed space.
